Nimmy Ferrari, a rising star of Nigeria’s Yoruba-language film industry, has died at 26, according to colleagues and family associates, in a death that has stunned fans just as she prepared to celebrate the completion of a new home she had spent years building.
The actress, whose real name was Nimota Adesanya, was widely known online as Idera and had built a following as both a screen performer and a social media content creator.

Reports of her death began circulating on social media on Saturday, when fellow actress Oluwakemisola Apesin, known professionally as Kemity, shared an emotional tribute on Instagram. “Everybody is back home, we left only you, Idera Nimmyferrari, it is well,” Kemity wrote, a message that quickly spread across Nigerian entertainment pages and prompted an outpouring of grief from fans and industry peers.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unconfirmed by her family, though multiple accounts circulating online attribute it to complications following surgery for fibroids, benign growths in the uterus that are common among women of reproductive age and are typically removed through routine procedures.

Adesanya worked primarily in Yoruba-language cinema, a prolific and commercially significant branch of Nollywood, and had appeared alongside established figures in the industry, including Niyi Johnson, Itele D Icon and Sanusi Izihaq.
Beyond acting, she operated as a producer through her own outfit, Nimmy Ferrari Production, and ran a YouTube channel, Nimmy Ferrari TV, where she built a further audience outside traditional cinema. She was born on February 10, 2000, and had marked her 26th birthday earlier this year.
Her death arrives at a difficult moment for the Yoruba film community, coming shortly after the death of veteran actor Ogogo, whom Adesanya had publicly honored in tribute not long before her own passing.
