Weeks After Denying the Rumors, Lil Wayne Introduces Madi Cannon as His Fiancée
Lil Wayne introduced Madi Cannon as his fiancée in a video recorded on Sept. 28 to congratulate B.G. on his own engagement, bringing an abrupt end to a summer of conflicting reports about the state of the couple’s relationship.
In the clip, Lil Wayne says he is marrying Cannon and presents her by her first name, Madison, as his fiancée, while she waves at the camera and adds her own congratulations to B.G.

Lil Wayne also declared himself B.G.’s best man. B.G. shared the message on Instagram and tagged Lil Wayne, writing that his “lil Brodie” had given him his blessings. Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., is 44 years old.
The congratulations were for a proposal that played out in public earlier this month. B.G., born Christopher Noel Dorsey, asked his girlfriend Brooke Jones, known online as Bodied By Brooke, to marry him during the New Orleans stop of the Cash Money and No Limit arena tour on Sept. 12, before his hometown crowd at the Smoothie King Center.
Jones appeared stunned before embracing him, and B.G. joked that he did not know which hand the ring belonged on because he had never proposed before. He turned to the producer Mannie Fresh, born Byron Thomas, for help, put the ring on her finger and launched into a celebratory song. The tour, a joint run by the two New Orleans labels, opened in Houston on Sept. 11 and continues through Nov. 15 in Cleveland.
Lil Wayne’s announcement has a complicated history. Rumours linking him to Cannon began circulating in May, and TMZ reported on May 26 that he had quietly become engaged to a woman in her 20s from Indiana. The pairing stayed largely out of public view for weeks, until the sports commentator Skip Bayless, a longtime friend of the rapper, posted a photograph of the two together during a visit to his home and captioned it in a way that identified Cannon as his fiancée.
Cannon later shared an affectionate photo of the pair on her Instagram Story, captioned only with heart emojis, which fueled the speculation without confirming it. She is a 23-year-old model and social media influencer from Kokomo, Ind., who also goes by Madi K online.
Days later, during a July 6 livestream, Lil Wayne denied the engagement and said the two had parted ways. As TheCityCeleb reported at the time, he described having had “a beautiful thing going with an amazing person” but said he did not want to become “a burden” on her given the climate of today’s culture, and he added that reports of an engagement had never been accurate. The exchange followed an online frenzy in which strangers dug into Cannon’s life and circulated rumors, which Lil Wayne suggested contributed to the split.
The age gap of roughly 20 years became a large part of the public conversation around the relationship. Much of the commentary noted that Cannon is only a few years younger than the rapper’s eldest daughter, Reginae Carter, who is 27. Critics raised concerns about power dynamics in relationships with wide age differences, while defenders argued that both were consenting adults entitled to privacy.
Lil Wayne has been married once, to Antonia “Toya” Johnson, known professionally as Toya Johnson, from 2004 to 2006, and the two share their daughter Reginae. He has since been engaged twice, to the singer Nivea and to the model La’Tecia Thomas, though neither engagement led to marriage. He was also linked to the model Denise Bidot in a relationship that ended around 2025.
The July breakup arrived during a turbulent start to his 20 Years of Carter Classics tour, which began June 30. Lil Wayne drew backlash after failing to appear for the opener in Bangor, Maine, later apologizing to fans on Instagram and announcing that the show would be rescheduled for July 28.
He also arrived roughly two hours late to a later performance in Gilford, N.H., and addressed the criticism over the missed and delayed shows during the same livestream in which he discussed the split.
The new video leaves several questions open. Lil Wayne’s July remarks described the earlier reports as inaccurate rather than confirming an engagement that had ended, which makes his latest statement the clearest public confirmation to date. It remains unclear whether the couple were engaged all along or became engaged after reconciling. No wedding date has been announced.
Both men are founding members of the Hot Boys, the New Orleans group they formed with Juvenile, born Terius Gray, and Turk, born Tab Virgil Jr. The four reunited at Lil WeezyAna Fest in New Orleans in November 2024, after years of anticipation. Their careers have run in parallel for nearly three decades, from the early days of Cash Money to what fans of the group now see as two separate love stories unfolding at once.
The news comes as Lil Wayne, a five-time Grammy winner, has been hinting that a follow-up to his album “Tha Carter VI” may be on the way. Neither he nor Cannon has publicly said anything further about their plans.
