On the 17th Of March 1989, he was birthed into the world. He was born into the family of Mr and Mrs Osaretin. His parents named him Osabuohien Osaretin. The name Osabuohien means that he is someone who is “Ambitious, Playful and Different.”

Coming from a middle-class background meant that Sarz grew up in a not-too affluent neighbourhood in Benin. While he was growing up, his parents ensured that they instilled good morals like humility, courage, generosity, respect for elders and integrity.

Music and Sarz forged a relationship when the latter was barely a teenager. He had been influenced by listening to songs by Nigerian and foreign musicians. His love for music cuts across different genres ranging from R&B, Soul, Pop, Highlife, Juju, Reggae, Dancehall, to Hip-Hop. He came into contact with these sounds by listening to songs on the radio or records played in his house and neighbourhoods.

However, his passion for music didn’t push him to sing. Instead, he focused on sound production, producing the beats that help give songs melody. After a stint in the choir in his local church, he began to learn sound production from an older friend in the neighbourhood.

Having spent hours practising what he was learning by understudying his friend, Sarz began to make his beats and became good at the art.
