Arthur Eze (born November 27, 1948) is a renowned Nigerian entrepreneur, oil magnate, philanthropist, and politician.

He is an Engineer who specializes in chemical engineering and mechanical engineering fields.

He is the Chairman and CEO of Atlas Oranto Petroleum. He is widely known by the names Prince Arthur Eze and Ozoigbondu of Igboland.

Early Life

Arthur Eze was born into the royal family of Ukpo Village, in Dunukofia Local Government Area. He arrived in the world on the 27th of November 1948. He belongs to the Ibo ethnic group and hails from the country’s Southeast region. He is an indigene of Anambra State.  

As a member of the royal family, he is a Prince. His elder brother is the current king – traditional ruler – of Ukpo Village. 

Arthur Eze spent his early years residing in Ukpo Village, where he was taught the customs and traditions of his ancestor. His parents raised him with good morals, and he learned leadership and entrepreneurial skills from his teenage days.  

Education

Arthur Eze attended public-owned schools in Dunukofia Local Government Area for his elementary school education. 

Thereafter, he gained admission into St. Augustin Secondary School in Nkwere, Imo State, for his high school education.

He passed out of the institution as one of its best students, scoring excellent grades in his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations.

Later, Arthur Eze moved to the United States for his university education. He bagged double Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering degrees from California State University, Long Beach, in 1978. 

Career

After bagging his bachelor’s degree, Arthur Eze moved back to Nigeria to join the corporate world. Due to his academic success at the university, he secured a lucrative job in the oil sector. He worked as an employee for some years before resigning to found his own company. This led to the establishment of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, a privately-held exploration, and production group.  

Under his leadership, Prince Arthur Eze has grown Atlas Oranto Oil into one of Africa’s largest holders of oil exploration blocks. The company has 22 oil and gas licenses in 12 jurisdictions in the African continent. Atlas Oranto Oil has oil and gas assets in Nigeria, Liberia, Gambia, and Equatorial Guinea. The oil firm has its corporate headquarters located in Abuja, while its technical base is in Lagos. 

Atlas Oranto Oil is a privately owned company with investors. However, the controlling stake is owned by Prince Arthur Eze and his family. The other shareholders of the company are involved in managing its affairs. 

Arthur Eze is an astute entrepreneur. He has investments in other sectors. He was once involved in the aviation industry. He is the founder of the now defunct Triax Airlines, which received its operating license in 1992. The airline was headquartered in Enugu State and had three commercial airplanes traveling across cities. But by 2000, the airline stopped its operations. 

Arthur Eze is also a revered politician and has been participating in the political affairs of Nigeria for decades now. He has been adjudged to be one of the godfathers in Anambra’s political space. He is known for financing parties and donating to the campaign funds of candidates he believes in. He is one of the notable persons who have been donating to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He is also credited as one of the founders of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) party. 

On the 14th of November 2011, Arthur Eze was conferred with the national honor of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) by Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. The award came as a recognition of his humanitarian work and contribution to the growth of the national economy. 

Personal Life

Arthur Eze is a family man. He is married to Mrs. Eze and blessed with children. One of his sons, Mr. Onyeka Eze, is the founder and president of the Prince Osisioma Foundation. He owns choice properties in different countries and has fleets of luxurious cars. He has sons and daughters with a son name Olisa Eze.

He is a respected philanthropist who is known for helping the less privileged in society and sponsoring social causes.

In 2013, he donated US$12 million for the construction of St. Stephen Anglican Deanery and Youth Development Center in Bayelsa State. Also, he once donated 10 million naira to the elderly people in his village. 

Arthur Eze is one of the owners of Mansions and a fleet of cars in Nigeria.
