Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke (born May 13, 1960), addressed professionally as Ademola Adeleke, is a renowned Nigerian politician and businessman.

One person has been credited with lowering the level of anxiety people have when it comes to politics. Senator Ademola Adeleke, who represented the Osun-West senatorial seat until June 2019, has gained the nickname “dancing senator” for his frequent and spontaneous dancing in public after significant triumphs or just for comedy. 

The well-known Nigerian artist, Davido‘s uncle is the dancing senator, Ademola Adeleke. Nobody was aware of this event until his brother Isiaka Adeleke, an Osun-West senator who passed away in April 2017, brought Ademola Adeleke to political prominence. Soon after his uncle Isiaka Adeleke passed away, he bravely decided to run for the Senate and win the position. He is the father of B-Red, a renowned Nigerian singer.

Ademola Adeleke is the declared winner of the 2022 Osun State governorship election, meaning he would be sworn in as the Governor of Osun State, Nigeria.

Early Life & Education

Ademola Adeleke was born to the late Chief Ayoola Adeleke and Esther Adeleke‘s family on May 13, 1960 in Enugu State, Nigeria. He originally hails from Osun State, Nigeria.

His parents were Esther Adeleke (mother), an ardent Igbo Christian, and Late Chief Ayoola Adeleke (father), a Muslim. His brothers are Adedeji Adeleke, Davido‘s father and the late Isiaka Adeleke.

It seems as though politics is in the Adelekes’ blood since his late father, Ayoola Adeleke, was a politician, a senator in the second republic, and the founder of the now-defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN). 

In addition, Ademola Adeleke‘s father served as the Balogun of Ede Land in Osun State when he was alive. He represented Nigeria’s Osun-west senatorial constituency till June 2019. The Ede Local Government Area is the ancestral home of his family.

Ademola Adeleke attended Nawarudeen Primary School in Ikire after starting his primary education at Methodist Primary School in Surulere, Lagos State. He continued schooling at the Ede Muslim Grammar School, Ede, before traveling to the US to live with his two older brothers. 

He stated that he studied political science and criminal justice at Jacksonville State University in Alabama, which is located in the United States. 

However, Ademola Adeleke‘s political competitors dug into his history during and after the 2018 Osun State Governorship election. They charged him with using dubious methods to earn a degree from the US. He returned to the US as a result and enrolled in Atlanta Metropolitan State College, where he graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice.

Career

Successful businessman and administrator Ademola Adeleke was the group executive director of Pacific Holdings Limited from 2001 to 2016. His brother owned Pacific Holdings Limited at the time. 

Ademola Adeleke served as a service contractor for the Quicksilver Courier Company in Atlanta, Georgia, between the years 1985 to 1988. He worked as vice president of Origin International LLC, an American firm that produces flavors and fragrances, from 1990 until 1994.

Even though death is terrible, Ademola Adeleke saw it as a sign of political things to come. The empire’s leader, Isiaka Adeleke, passed away on April 23, 2017. Before it, Ademola Adeleke was a little-known figure in politics. Unquestionably, Late Isiaka Adeleke had a wonderful career and left behind a legacy to be proud of. He served as Osun State’s first executive governor. 

His life was a bright example of virtue and loyalty to his country. None of us could contest his role as a superb ambassador for his nation on the world stage. Ademola Adeleke filled Isiaka Adeleke‘s Senate seat as mandated by the constitution when the Osun West Senatorial District and other key party figures agreed to return the ticket to Adeleke’s kingdom. 

Ademola Adeleke‘s victory in the by-election was unexpected. He was chosen by nine out of the ten local governments in the senatorial area and received 97,280 votes overall. He gave his late brother credit for his victory. 

Ademola Adeleke competed in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) primarily for governor of Osun State on September 22, 2018, taking on Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola of the APC and Iyiola Omisore of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

After declaring the election inconclusive, the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) set a new election date for September 27, 2018. The APC candidate Adegboyega Oyetola prevailed in the second round. Ademola Adeleke contested the results and referred to the election as a “coup.” A Tribunal declared Adeleke, the election’s winner on March 22, 2019. 

However, Adegboyega Oyetola went to the Court of Appeal to have his win upheld. In a lead judgment issued on May 9, 2019, in Abuja, Justice Hannatu Sankey ruled Adegboyega Oyetola, the winner, after setting aside all of the Tribunal’s proceedings due to their “faulty composition.” 

However, Ademola Adeleke, who was dissatisfied and thought he had been robbed, went to the Supreme Court; regrettably, the high court confirmed the decision made by the Appeal Court on Friday, July 5, 2019.

However, his party (PDP) permitted the unyielding Ademola Adeleke to compete in the party’s primary elections before July 16, 2022, Osun State Governorship Election alongside Akin Ogunbiyi and four other candidates. 

Ademola Adeleke won the PDP primary held in Osogbo on March 8, 2022, and ran in the 22 governor’s race in Osun. He was declared the winner of the Osun State Governorship election by INEC on the 17th of October 2022.

Personal Life

Ademola Adeleke has three children and is married to Titilola Adeleke. 

Sina Rambo and B-Red, his two sons, are well-known musicians in Nigeria. Ademola Adeleke also has a daughter; his young daughter is Nike Adeleke.
