Sean Taylor (born 1 April 1983), whose real name is Sean Michael Maurice Taylor, was a celebrated football free safety for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League.

He played safety for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League from April 1, 1983, until November 27, 2007. (NFL). He played with the Redskins for four seasons until being killed in 2007; they selected him as the fifth overall choice in the 2004 NFL Draft.

As a high school athlete, Sean Taylor helped Gulliver Prep win the Florida state championship and set the record for most touchdowns in a single season. He played college football for Miami, where he was a part of the squad that won the Jack Tatum Trophy and the BCS National Championship in 2001. He earned a reputation for being a hard-hitting player while playing for the Redskins, earning him the moniker “Meast” (from the phrase “half man, half beast”). He played in one Pro Bowl in 2006.

During the 2007 election, Sean Taylor was shot by intruders at his home in the Miami area. The next day, on November 27, he passed suddenly. On April 1, 1983, Sean Michael Maurice Taylor was born in Florida, United States, where he spent most of his formative years living with his grandmother. He is the son of Donna Junor and police officer Pedro Taylor. He has four siblings: Gabriel Taylor, Sasha Johnson, Jamal Johnson, and Jamal Johnson.

He had a successful high school football career as an offensive and defensive player. In 2001, the Miami Hurricanes football team at the University of Miami recruited him as a talented football player.

Sean Taylor performed a tremendous season in his last year of college, which helped him garner numerous honors and trophies. He made an impressive showing by being named to the first team of the All-Americans and the Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year.


Since being selected with the fifth overall choice in 2004, Sean Taylor has encountered several issues on and off the field. The NFL also imposed a fine on him. He received a $17,000 fine in January 2006 for spitting in Tampa Bay running back Michael Pittman Jr‘s face during a playoff game.

One of the toughest hitters in the NFL, Sean Taylor, passed away on November 27, 2007, a day after being shot by trespassers inside his home in the Miami region. His murder was allegedly committed by four young males, ages 17 to 20. Charges against Jason Mitchell, Eric Rivera, Charles Wardlow, and Venjah Hunte include premeditated murder, armed burglary, and house invasion with a gun or other lethal weapon. 

On November 26, early in the morning, Sean Taylor, his girlfriend, Jackie Garcia, and their 18-month-old daughter were in their master bedroom when they heard a disturbance coming from the living room, according to Richard Sharpstein, Sean Taylor‘s longtime friend and attorney. When someone rushed through the door and fired a pistol, he grabbed what Richard Sharpstein described as “a machete or something of that type” and moved for the bedroom door. 

No harm came to the infant, who was in a crib, or Sean Taylor‘s girlfriend, who was sheltering under the bedclothes.

Jesse Jackson, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and ex-football player O. J. Simpson were among those who attended Sean Taylor‘s funeral and paid their condolences. Simpson stated Taylor “was just a tremendous athlete.” Sean Taylor‘s teammates on the Washington Redskins wore patches on their jerseys and stickers on their helmets with his jersey number, 21, on them.
