Eric Marlon Bishop (born 13 December 1967), known by his career name Jamie Foxx, is a producer, an actor, musician, radio host, comedian, and multifaceted entertainer. He was a gifted student who participated in a variety of extracurricular activities. He was also a high-achieving student who excelled at sports such as basketball and football.

He also sang in a music band as a teenager and was frequently praised for his ability to make his classmates laugh. He started as a stand-up comedian before branching out into acting. Because of his sporting background, he was cast as a football player in the film ‘Any Given Sunday.’

More film roles followed, and his acting career peaked with his performance in the biopic ‘Ray,’ for which he received an ‘Academy Award‘ and a ‘BAFTA Award.’ He is a successful actor and a ‘Grammy‘ award-winning musician.

Early Life & Education

On December 13, 1967, Jamie Foxx was born to Louise Annette Talley and Darrell Bishop in Terrell, Texas, USA. His parents divorced when he was young, and he was raised by his maternal grandparents in a racially segregated neighbourhood.

Since childhood, he was musically inclined and began playing the piano at the age of five. He was also good at telling jokes and making people laugh. He has two sisters whose names are Deidra Dixon and Deondra Dixon.

Jamie Foxx went to ‘Terrell High School‘ and excelled academically. He was also talented in sports such as football and basketball. He also sang in a band called ‘Leather and Lace.’

In 1989, he began performing stand-up comedy. During this period, he went by the stage name ‘Jamie Foxx.’

In 1991, he joined the cast of the sketch comedy television series ‘In Living Color,’ where he appeared as a recurring character in 95 episodes.

In 1992, he made his film debut as ‘Baker‘ in the fantasy comedy film ‘Toys.’ The film was a flop at the box office and did not help launch his Hollywood career.
