Early Life

Charity Onah was born in the early ’80s on the 1st of January to the family of Mr and Mrs Onah in Lagos State. She is from the South-Eastern part of the country.

She has five siblings.

Her father died when she was still a young girl. She was six years old then. Thus, she was raised all alone by her mother who sponsored her education up to the university level. Her father’s family had refused to lend a helping hand in taking care of her and her siblings.

She credits her mother for being the pillar of her success and for working hard to ensure she became great in life, despite being a widow.

This is why Charity loves her mother a lot and doesn’t joke with her. She describes her mum as her Wonder Woman.

As a young girl, Charity became interested in drama and acted in school plays. As she grew older, she decided to pursue a professional acting career having discovered it to be one of her callings.

Education

Charity obtained her Primary School Leaving Certificate and Secondary School Leaving Certificate in Nigeria.

She also bagged a law degree from one of Nigeria’s prestigious universities.

She was called to bar after graduating from the Nigerian Law School.

Career

After completing her studies, Charity worked as a lawyer for eight years in private practice. While working in the corporate sector, the desire to join the Nollywood industry was always burning at the back of her mind.

She finally opted to pursue her dream and resigned from her job.

Since that moment, she has been featured in several movies such as A Day Outside, Akunne, Expired Maiden, Obinna, Mr Sister’s Husband, Ojukwu, Adanma’s Diary, The Grudge, Unforeseen, Cravings, and lots more.

She has worked with top actors such as Mercy Johnson, Ken Erics, Esther Audu, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Lilian Esoro, Wole Ojo, Thelma Okodua, Kenneth Okolie, Empress Njamah, Ifeanyi Kalu, Tina Mba, Nobert Young, Wale Ojo, Daniel Lloyd, Femi Branch, Francis Duru, Tamara Eteiemo, amongst others.

Asides from acting, she is also a filmmaker and has produced a couple of films.

The organization is called the Center For Defense Of Widows Right In Nigeria (CEDWIN). She serves as the director-general of the organization.

The organization’s head office is in Abuja, Nigeria. They currently have branches spread across 19 states of the federation with different chapter coordinators.

The idea for the NGO had been conceived while she was 13 and she had promised herself that she would help alleviate the suffering of widows when she grew older.

She leads the NGO in the fight against the maltreatment of widows by their families. The NGO also acts as arbitrators in disputes involving widows and their families.

Charity Onah who is in her late-thirties calls herself a Super Mom. She is the mother of five adorable children, four boys and a girl. Her children’s names are David, Isaac, Chikezie, Patrick and Princess.

Her first two sons are university undergraduates. David who is 20 years is studying Law while his brother, Isaac is studying Civil Engineering. Isaac is 19 years old.

Chikezia, aged 19, and Patrick aged 20 are currently in senior secondary school.

Princess, her last child is eight years old. She is still in primary school.

Charity Onah has a partner and husband whose name is Stan Lauren Kingstone.

Stan is an actor, bodybuilder and model. He won the 2019 Mr MACHO Nigeria Competition. He was the 2016 winner of Mr IDEAL Nigeria – Globe Competition.

The couple has been married for years and their anniversary falls on the 8th of November every year.
