Yaya Mwanda was born into the Mwanda family in South Africa on the 17th of January, 1992. She was birthed and raised in Eastern Cape Province. Her parents are South Africans, and she hails from the Xhosa ethnic group. Her official name is Yamkela Mwanda.

As a young girl, Yaya Mwanda‘s parents and grandmother instilled in her excellent moral values and taught her the traditions and customs of the Xhosa tribe.
