The 2024–25 Premier League season marked the 33rd edition of England’s top-tier league under its current format and the 126th campaign of top-flight English football overall. Manchester City entered the season aiming to extend their dominance after clinching four consecutive titles.

However, their reign came to an end as Liverpool reclaimed the crown, securing their second Premier League title—and 20th English top-flight championship overall—with four games remaining. This achievement placed them level with Manchester United for the most league titles in English football history.
The official match fixtures were unveiled on 18 June 2024, featuring a calendar of 33-weekend rounds, four-midweek fixtures, and a special Bank Holiday match week. Notably, the Premier League eliminated the two-week winter break that had been in place since the 2019–20 season. Instead, the league prioritized a longer off-season break while introducing more spaced-out fixtures during the holiday period to ease player fatigue. As part of this adjustment, no games were scheduled on Christmas Eve.
Transfer activity followed its usual rhythm, with the summer window open from 14 June to 30 August 2024 (closing at 23:00 BST), and the winter window running from 1 January to 3 February 2025 (closing at 23:00 GMT). The season also marked the end of an era, as Nike served its final campaign as the official match ball supplier. Puma is set to take over this role starting from the 2025–26 season.
A significant technological advancement was introduced this season with the rollout of semi-automated offside technology. Initially scheduled for implementation after an autumn international break, the launch was postponed to allow for further testing. After successful trials in the FA Cup fifth round and beyond, the Premier League confirmed the official deployment of the technology beginning in matchweek 32 on 12 April 2025. The first match to feature the system was Manchester City’s home game against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium.
Overall, the 2024–25 Premier League season stood out not just for its historic title race, but also for ushering in a new era of technology and scheduling innovations aimed at improving the experience for players and fans alike.
