Biography

Larissa de Macedo Machado (born March 30, 1993) is a talented Brazilian singer, songwriter, and television host called Anitta. She secured a recording contract with Warner Music Brazil in January 2013 after reaching national commercial success with her debut professional single, Meiga e Abusada, in 2012. With the release of her single Show das Poderosas in 2013, she catapulted to national prominence.

Anitta launched her self-titled first album in July of the same year, which spawned four hit singles on local charts and was certified platinum.

Ritmo Perfeito (2014), her second studio album, was likewise a minor commercial success in the country, and it was released on the same day as her debut live album, Meu Lugar. In 2015, she released her third studio album, Bang, which was rated platinum and yielded four successful singles: Deixa Ele Sofrer, Essa Mina é Louca, Cravo e Canela and Cravo e Canela. The album was instrumental in establishing her near-dominant position in the Brazilian music charts.

Between 2016 and 2018, Anitta collaborated with several international artists, including Nile Rodgers, Maluma, Iggy Azalea, Major Lazer, Alesso, and J Balvin. In 2017, Anitta released Paradinha, her debut song in Spanish, which launched her into a partial crossover to Spanish-language Latin pop and reggaeton music.

Downtown, her collaboration with Colombian singer J Balvin that same year became her breakout song in various Spanish-speaking markets. In 2019, she collaborated with Madonna, Sofia Reyes, Rita Ora, Luis Fonsi, Ozuna, and Black Eyed Peas. Kisses (2019), her trilingual fourth studio visual album, won critical acclaim and got her a Latin Grammy Award nomination for Best Urban Music Album.

Three months later, Anitta‘s Spanish language single Envolver, off her fifth studio album Versions of Me (2022), topped Spotify’s Global Top 50 chart, making Anitta the first Brazilian and Latin American artist with a solo song to accomplish so. She is still the only Brazilian artist to dominate a global music chart, ranking first on Billboard Global Excl. U.S. and second on Billboard Global.
