Inside Soso Soberekon’s Star-Studded Wedding to Princess Ebiere

Warri, Delta State, became the center of Nigeria’s entertainment world over the weekend as music executive and talent manager Soso Soberekon married Princess Ebiere of the Gbaramatu Kingdom in a lavish traditional ceremony that drew scores of celebrities, business figures and political appointees.

The wedding, tagged online with the hashtag Sobeau2026, capped a week of festivities that began days earlier with the payment of the bride’s dowry and ended Saturday in a celebration many attendees described as one of the most extravagant in recent memory.

The formal marriage rites took place on Wednesday, July 22, in Benikrukru Community, within the Gbaramatu Kingdom, where Soberekon paid the traditional bride price before members of both families.

The gesture, observed according to Niger Delta custom, cleared the way for Saturday’s larger celebration in Warri, where the couple exchanged vows in front of an audience that included some of the biggest names in Nigerian music and entertainment.

Soberekon, who has spent years building relationships across the country’s entertainment and business circles, had signalled the union earlier in the week with a pre-wedding video in which he declared himself off the market, writing that he had been taken. The clip quickly circulated online and drew a wave of congratulatory messages from colleagues and fans.

By the time guests began arriving in Warri, chartered private jets had already begun ferrying celebrities in from Lagos, and the couple made their entrance in a Rolls-Royce Spectre reportedly worth billions of naira, according to widely shared social media footage.

The atmosphere inside the venue, which had been transformed with elaborate floral displays and ornate lighting, drew comparisons online to a garden paradise. Singers Timi Dakolo and 2Baba provided much of the ceremony’s musical backdrop.

Dakolo performed his wedding staple Iyawo Mi, while 2Baba serenaded the newlyweds with African Queen as Soberekon led his bride onto the dance floor and showered her with foreign currency. This gesture became one of the most talked-about moments of the night.

The guest list read like a roll call of Nigeria’s entertainment industry. Among those in attendance were Ini Edo, Iyabo Ojo and her daughter Priscilla Ajoke Ojo, Rita Dominic, Toke Makinwa, Mercy Eke, IK Ogbonna, Kcee, Teni, Harrysong, Oritse Femi, Iyanya, Zlatan and his wife, Peruzzi, Sabinus, E-Money and his wife, and comedian Peller.

Teni, who shares a close bond with the groom, served as part of his groomsmen. Business executive Hilary Ibegbulem and nightlife figure Cubana Chief Priest were also present, alongside a number of guests from outside the entertainment sphere. Those included the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate for Ebonyi State, Ifeanyi Odii, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Dennis Otuaro, and former Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick.

Festivities in the lead-up to the wedding included a bridal shower held Thursday, where Soberekon surprised his bride with a bouquet and later shared footage on social media of her spraying him with dollar bills, a moment he described as a first for him. In an Instagram post following Saturday’s ceremony, Soberekon reflected on the years he spent waiting to find a partner, writing that God’s timing is always perfect and that he didn’t wait this long in vain, framing the marriage as the product of patience rather than haste.

By the close of the weekend, the newlyweds had spent time with family and friends, posing for photographs as guests continued to celebrate late into the night. The wedding’s scale, from the procession of private jets to the calibre of performers and guests, has kept it near the top of trending conversations across Nigerian social media in the days since.
