Rashad Spain (born October 8, 1993), addressed professionally as Saucy Santana, is a gifted American rapper, songwriter and makeup artist from Compton, California. He is best known for his singles walk-in and Drip. He has also been featured on songs by Cardi B, Wiz Khalifa, and Kodak Black.

He began his career as a makeup artist at a MAC Cosmetics store. He later transitioned into music, and his debut single, Walk In, was released in 2018. The song was a success, and Saucy Santana has since released several more singles and EPs. He is currently signed to Atlantic Records.

In addition to his music career, Saucy Santana is known as his makeup artist to work. He has been featured in magazines such as Vogue and Elle and has done makeup for celebrities like Kylie Jenner.

Early Life

Rashad Spain, popularly known as Saucy Santana, was born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA, on October 8, 1993. He was raised by a single mother called Teresa Harris. He spent most of his childhood in Bridgeport before relocating to Florida with his mother at age 10.

After relocating to Florida, he started his musical career. Although he started working as a makeup artist for City Girls and started rapping professionally in February 2019, when he created a theme song for the podcast that he hosted with his friends at the time.

In 2008, at the age of 17, Saucy Santana came out to identify himself as gay. His gender is male.

Personal Life

Saucy Santana and two others were shot in a drive-by shooting in Miami in December 2019. He, hospitalized for his injuries, stated that he believes the shooting was motivated by homophobia. 

He said, “I got shot in the top of my shoulder, you were aiming at my face or at my head, which he believed will be an instant kill.” This incident inspired him to write the song You Can’t Kill Me.

In August 2019, Saucy Santana published his debut track, Walk ‘Em Like a Dog, on the audio distribution platform SoundCloud. The EP Dog Walkers followed this release in September 2019, and the mixtape Imma Celebrity in January 2020.

Saucy Santana was a recurring guest on the third season of Love & Hip Hop: Miami, which aired on VH1 from January 6, 2020, through April 4, 2020. He released his second mixtape, Pretty Little Gangsta, in July 2020, with the singles Up & Down and Back It Up featuring American rappers Latto and LightSkinKeisha.

Saucy Santana appeared on the single Food Stamp Hoe by American rapper Sukihana in August 2021. His 2020 track Walk went viral in 2021 after being featured in the TikTok #WalkChallenge, earning him the endorsement of American rapper Nicki Minaj.

His tracks Here We Go and Material Girl rose to prominence on the platform during the year, with the latter receiving a nod from Madonna. The latter played a medley of her song and Saucy Santana‘s Material Girl with him at NYC Pride in 2022.

The version they played was later released as a single named Material Gworrllllllll!, released on December 16, 2021. His debut studio album, Keep It Playa, featured the tune Shisha, his first collaboration with City Girls, with whom he began his career as a makeup artist.

Saucy Santana faced severe criticism in June 2022 for tweets from 2014 concerning singer Beyoncé‘s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. He claimed to have compared Blue Ivy Carter to Kanye West‘s daughter North West and referred to Blue Ivy Carter‘s hair as “nappy.”

Saucy Santana made his Tonight Show debut in August 2022, performing Booty. He also performed Booty during the pre-show of the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards.
